MLK Day Recognition Program-“How Long? Not Long!”

Outstanding Martin Luther King Jr. Day Recognition Program sponsored by the NAACP Arcadia-Bienville Unit 61AD-B and the Youth Council.

This year’s powerful theme, “How Long? Not Long!” reminded us that justice, equality, and opportunity are always worth striving for—and that progress is possible when communities stand together with purpose and unity.

From the inspiring speakers to the meaningful presentations, the program truly reflected the spirit and legacy of Dr. King. We applaud the NAACP and the Youth Council for their leadership, vision, and commitment to keeping his dream alive in Bienville Parish.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success. Together, we continue to build a stronger, more united Arcadia.

MLK Day Event Scheduled
January 28, 2026

The Arcadia-Bienville NAACP Youth Council in conjunction with the Arcadia-Bienville NAACP Unit 61AD-B will present a program on Monday, January 19, 2026 honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The program starts at 11:00AM and will be held in the Arcadia High School Gymnasium, located at 967 Daniel Street in Arcadia.

Youth will present activities centered around the theme How Long? Not Long, which is the speech Dr. King gave on March 25, 1965 at the state capitol in Montgomery, Alabama after the march from Selma, Alabama. It was the prelude to the Voting Rights Act of 1965 which was signed on August 6, 1965. In addition to the youth activities, Mrs. Nacole “Nickie” Warren, Registrar of Voters, will discuss the new closed party primary election.

The event is free and the public is invited to attend. You are encouraged to attend to support our youth and to learn important information to fully participate in the upcoming election.
