The NAACP Arcadia-Bienville Branch 61 AD-B brought community members together for its third Community Café Conversations Series event, the “Civic Engagement Roundtable: Strengthening the Community’s Voice”.
The discussion was facilitated by Dr. Stephanie Bundle and focused on civic participation, community concerns, policy changes and voter engagement. Louisiana State Representative Rashid Armand Young, helped frame the conversation by emphasizing the importance of meaningful community conversations and civic participation.
Participants discussed voting, community involvement and staying engaged beyond election seasons. Interactions with Grambling State University social work students also highlighted the importance of younger generational perspectives. WIN Committee members also participated in the roundtable discussions. The roundtable concluded with action planning focused on voter engagement and turnout, continued partnerships, community resources, and education and training in civic-engagement strategies, messaging and technology.
Political Action and Health Committee leaders, including Evelyn Jenkins Archie, Dr. Elise Reed and Joyce Cottonham were the sponsors for this event. The NAACP Arcadia-Bienville Branch continues to create opportunities for community members to connect, exchange ideas and identify practical ways to strengthen civic participation and the community’s collective voice.
