The purpose and aims of Branches of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People shall be to improve the political, educational, social, and economic status of African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities; to eliminate racial prejudice; to keep the public aware of the adverse effects of discrimination; to take lawful action to secure the elimination of racial discrimination; to seek legislation and policies at the local level, or at other levels if requested by the State/State-Area Conference or National Office, which advance the programs and policies of the Association; and to oppose legislation and policies which are adverse to the programs and policies of the Association consistent with the efforts of the national organization and in conformity with the Articles of Incorporation of the Association, its Constitution and Bylaws, and as directed by the Board of Directors.
Our local NAACP branch functions in alignment with the principles and mission of our national organization. We provide a structured platform for addressing civil rights concerns, promoting awareness, and supporting efforts that advance equal opportunity within the community. This includes focusing on education, civic engagement and advocacy.
Our objectives include increasing community knowledge and understanding of civil rights issues, encouraging informed civic participation, and supporting fair access to public and regulated resources. We work through organized committees, partnerships and programs to ensure that concerns are addressed responsibly.
Our Branch President provides leadership and direction, represents the branch in official capacities and works with elected officers and committee chairs to oversee operations.
